Let’s look at how they both differ.
Hula Booth is one of the most competitively priced photo booth apps on the market, even with the inclusion of Hula Gallery. Salsa Plus’s price point is still low at $49 per month.
Salsa also has a Pro version which is $99 per month.
Hula Booth allows you access on an unlimited number of devices. Salsa charges an extra amount (between $15.80 and $32.50) for each additional device. The price will change depending on the number of devices you register.
Both apps offer unlimited free emails and let you change the from-name, reply to email address and edit the message.
Hula Booth allows you to connect your own text message provider using Twilio or Messagebird. While this means that the cost (which is usually only a few dollars) of the text messages are on you, it gives you the freedom of being able to receive responses and use it as a marketing tool. Salsa offers free SMS sharing but the only customizable feature about it is the SMS body.
Salsa allows you to set brandable attract screens for each event. Hula Booth has this feature coming very soon.
Both apps allow you to upload your own overlays for image assets. Salsa takes this to the next level by allowing you to upload multiple overlays, which then means the user has the option to choose which one they prefer.
Neither app offers digital props for users. This is something that Hula Booth has in the works though.
Animated overlays are not available on LumaBooth but Hula currently has this in the works!
Neither app currently has this function available. Hula Booth is working on it though…
Hula Booth allows you to connect Dropbox or OneDrive for cloud-based storage. The Dropbox integration is for Salsa Pro users only.
Salsa offers a live gallery for users and guests to view which has customization options for the text and background colour. Hula users can subscribe to Hula Gallery at an additional cost and have fully white labelled (including custom domains), private gallery hosting for all events.
Salsa allows users to brand the attract screen but the app itself is not fully customizable. Hula Booth allows you to set your company logo, change the colours of the app and customize your share options.
Both apps will still work even without internet access. Image assets will queue in the background and send once the device comes online again, or guests can send their images by AirDrop.
Hula Booth users can print images directly from the app using AirPrint, or set up printing using automation software and a computer. Salsa Plus users do not have access to AirPrint.
On both apps, you’re able to view each event’s data and analytics or receive a more detailed spreadsheet.
Both apps allow you to manually adjust the camera settings to make sure your booth is perfect in all lighting conditions.
Salsa Plus users do not have access to the green screen feature. Hula Booth users will very soon.
Parties need two things: photo booths and dancing. It makes sense that both apps are named after dances.
Apps compared in May 2019.
